They're different terms to me.
Well-off is comfortable with a good savings and the ability to take nice vacations, but still driving a nice Honda or a used BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Lexus.
Wealthy/rich is never have to work another day if you don't want, go pretty much anywhere and do pretty much anything. Buying box seats, vacation homes, etc.
