That's a huge reason why they took fewer and had higher %'s. It's almost certain had they been shooting more those %'s would be lower.
I definitely get your point though. There was an old school thought of needing to get shots closer to the hoop and an outside shot being a "bad shot". It's a great example of the old school thought of "well this is the way it's always been done" prevailing but eventually being disrupted and changed.
