For a while there, if you selected the “hybrid” option when renting for work you would get a much bigger and better
equipped sedan than compact even though they were the same price (don’t know if that pricing was some arrangement my employer had with hertz to try to be green- it was always the same price as a compact).
But then the hybrid cars started getting smaller and crappier.
