I'm glad the Dodgers didn't try to keep Machado, they've shown they have the horses without him, and
Vergudo, Pollack, and Smith have been solid. Imagine that the 2015 rookie of the year (Seager) sat out the first 1/4 of the season, that Taylor has been missing 1/3 of the season, they are down two starting pitchers, and at least two infielders and they are leading baseball.
They didn't go crazy to deal for players at the deadline, and they have a strong farm. Just shows that guys like Trout, Harper, Machado are guys to build around, but you need horses in AAA to make it work. You can't be trying to trade for players already in the big game to fill your roster.
