Of course. Grew up eating poached eggs on toast since as young as I can remember.
One of the earliest foods I learned how to cook.

Secret of the pros - crack the egg into a small dish. Swirl the water in a pot into a whirlpool with your spoon, then pour your egg into the center of the pan. The swirling water will keep the egg white from disseminating all over the pan.
