You're right, it wasn't Matthews for this one. And of course there's a big
element of luck and receiver skill for Hail Mary plays. That's football 101.
Look, Tanner wasn't a great QB his freshman year. He had some nice talent at RB and WR that helped him immensely, and a coordinator who could hide Tanner's deficiencies.
I know you see the numbers and are infatuated, but there were several passes Wilson made last year that Tanner never even tried his entire career at BYU.
