In an interview with Chris Kamrani, of The Athletic, he said:
“We would be a very physical football team. We would be committed to running the football. We’d be an excellent play-action pass team. We’d have a dynamic quarterback that can play under center, in the gun, can do things with the play-action pass, the spread-run game, the whole deal. We just want to be very hard to defend while playing to our strengths.”
So essentially the offense we saw in 2008, with players that he says are “bigger, longer, and faster”.
When asked why he came back, he indicated the team leadership (he and Whitt go back 30 years) and his desire to live here when he retires, were the primary reasons. Being paid $820,000 plus bonuses, probably helped in his decision making.
