He's still in a hard cast on his right hand and has something going on with his right leg where it's all bandaged up.  Was he hit by a bus?  Even if they cut the cast off by game day, he won't have used his right arm/hand for more than a month.  The muscles will have atrophied, and he won't be able to grip the ball with that hand.

I didn't notice covey in the video.  No idea on what his status is.
