My Father a few years ago had similar symptoms, he had high amounts of ammonia in his system and it was caused by gall stones blocking the flow of bile to the liver....once the stones were removed, bile flowed and he purged the ammonia. Even then it took a few days to clear it all. I have to say, it was very scary time. I thought we were going to lose him.
