Is it time for more stringent security at football games?
I was listening to KSL radio this afternoon and they were talking about how 1/3 of American adults have specifically avoided a certain place or changed plans because of recent mass shootings. They then were talking about their own lives if they've thought about it or changed plans when they've gone to gatherings with a large group of people. The male host (Dave I think) said he's been to a Bee's game and a couple concerts since and hasn't thought about it. The other host (Debbie) mentioned she was hesitant to go to the movie theater recently after remembering the Colorado incident as well as the recent shootings.

This got me thinking, overall the security at BYU football games is pretty relaxed. A student employee checks your bag and moves a few things around with a little stick. I'm not sure if this is super effective but maybe it is more so than I realize. It's better than nothing. Comparing that to other large sporting events and even General Conference, you have to go through a metal detector.

Are we in a time where we need to be doing this at all large gatherings such as a BYU football game (or any large sporting even for that matter) where 60,000 people are in relatively small space? I don't know if a definitive Yes is the correct answer, but the radio conversation got me thinking about it.
