The odds of BYU ever winning a natty in 1972 were lower than the odds of BYU
winning another one are now. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t understand the hill LaVell Edwards climbed. At the time he didn’t even understand it. He just wanted to do well enough to keep his job.
