an awesome dad who enjoyed BYU's success in the 80's and 90's, and passed that interest on to me. Despite having a ton of other "fall hobbies" like fishing and hunting, I prioritized BYU football for almost 15 years and have rarely missed games. I spent a decade in SLC, attended singles wards at the U, went to parties at the U, and am the only BYU fan in my circle of friends. My friends all know me as the obsessive BYU fan who spends too much time on cougarboard. I went all in in between 2007 and 2013 and was a season ticket holder for years even as a broke kid. So every time I hear this "Ute fan" nonsense, I have to shake my head. My wife thinks its hilarious, and ridiculous that anybody could call me a Ute fan because they know how much I have despised that program and their fans for the last 15 years.
There are BYU fans on this board who can't handle objectivity. Anything that they perceive as negative makes them uncomfortable, and they get defensive. I've been attacked on this board for years by thin skinned weirdos that can't handle anything but the rosiest commentary. It's baffling. But yeah...I'll continue to cheer for BYU, even though I don't have a lot of hope for the future of BYU athletics.
