Rooting Guide Week 2
The goals for BYU are:

1. To win as many games as possible
2. To be bowl eligible and play the best bowl opponent possible
3. To achieve the highest ranking possible
4. To win a NY6 bowl game

Ideal records:
BYU 11-1 NY6 game
Tennessee 11-2 SEC champs.
South Florida 11-2 AAC champs
Toledo 11-2 MAC champs
Idaho St. 11-1. Big Sky champs
UMass 10-2
Washington 11-2. Pac-12 champs.
USC 11-2. Pac-12 South Champs.
SDSU 11-2. MWC champs.
Boise St. 10-2
Utah St 10-3 Mountain West Mountain champs
Liberty 9-3
Utah 1-11

If you want to see these goals accomplished here is your rooting guide:

A. Cheer for BYU. Duh.

B. Cheer for the team playing Utah. Because they’re Utah.

D. Cheer for teams playing teams ranked ahead of BYU. Cheer for unranked teams vs. ranked teams. If both teams are ranked ahead of BYU cheer for the higher ranked team (Of course rules A-C trump rule D).

E. Cheer for our Opponents’ opponents unless they are playing our opponents. This helps our SOS in virtually every SOS calculation. Cheer for the team that our opponents have defeated or will likely defeat. All things being equal cheer for the more connected team (unless it violates rules A-D). For example, Colorado St is one of the most connected teams to our opponents as they play 4 games against them (Toledo, San Diego St, Boise St, Utah St). The number by the team indicates how connected they are.
