I'll bet it's based on data.. 996 times out of 1000, when a team has 20 seconds
to go 80 yards for a score with no time outs, that team looses.
If the screen from the baseball game showed more sig figs, it would probably show 99.999% instead of 99.9%, which is more like 1 in 100000 and is a much lower probability.
