- A big chunk of Slovis's passing yards were YAC with his playmakers breaking or eluding tacklers and extending plays. Sound tackling will be key in this game against elite skill players with moves. Slovis threw up some 50/50 balls and trusted his guys to make grabs. Our secondary will need to stay disciplined, and an interception would go far in rattling Slovis. Home crowd needs to be loud!
- USC's running game is pretty good, including up the middle. They moved the chains well enough to give Slovis time to wiggle the jitters out. We've not done particularly well defending the rush in the last two games. Our DL needs to have their best game yet in terms of disruption and containment. Frustrate them early.
- USC's defense seems good, not great. I like our OL versus their DL and I think we can run on them. If USC offense starts off hot then we might need to slow the game down and chew clock. I don't love our chances if we get into an offensive shoot-out (unless Wilson and company click and start firing on all cylinders).
- I'm proud of how this team kept fighting against Tennessee. WHAT A FUN ENDING! I hope our players basked in this win over the weekend and carry that confidence into practice. But I also hope they stay hungry and disciplined. We still have some tough games and our best football needs to be ahead of us.
- On a Pac12 note, looks like the landscape is indeed shifting. I can already hear the whining about conference cannibalism when CFP decisions come around.
- Televised on ABC is sweet!
- BYU wears navy uniforms this week. Is USC going white or red top?
Go Cougars!
