Yes, Tennessee had a few lucky plays go their way earlier in the game, but that doesn't disguise the fact that BYU showed a lot of bad execution, bad playcalling, and bad discipline that put them in a position to be down in the first place. Tennessee will not finish with a winning record, and they are probably a bad team. USC and Washington look to be significantly better, and I expect Boise State and Utah State to also be better. BYU has to improve if they want to show progress this season.
