Hmm. September's about all we have to offer the P5 for scheduling. Why give it up
This seems like a pro-Boise State arrangement. It makes their scheduling convenient. They don't have to interrupt their October-November conference schedules to schedule us. What does BYU get out of 8 years of Boise State in September? Games with Boise State are reasonably good for our program — but are SEPTEMBER games with Boise State a good move for our program, assuming we stay Independent? Hard to say, but I'm leaning toward no. We've had no problem scheduling top teams in September. Now we have 1/4th less to offer big programs in terms of September dates.

If we end up being in a weak conference during those 8 years, it's even worse.

If we end up with a beneficial conference affiliation during those 8 years, it's just fine to schedule Boise State every September.
