RE: My thoughts from the game:

My only disagreement about your write up would be the coaching.  BYU out-coached USC by a clear margin. They did a great job taking away the opponents strengths and capitalizing on their own strengths.  I was impressed by the adjustments after the first drive and impressed with adjustments against the run in the second half.   The LBS were dropping like flys during the game but they mixed and matched personnel in and still were able to make plays, putting players in the positions to be successful.  The game plan was great, only giving up 1 long throw and one shorter throw that turned into a long run by the tight end.

Yes, the call to run the same play after the ref blew the play died was an odd decision, but I like going for that on fourth.  There has to be a wrinkle in that play somewhere.

The coaching up of players is apparent this year.   The WR's have shown massive improvement, running routes, and most importantly catching the ball.  Simon in particular.  He caught a tough ball over the middle that last year would have been dropped.  The Oline is young and they are getting better.

Really, the only place I see on the team that has not improved is LBS.  But, the two main components that I thought would be good are coming off of injury and are dinged up now.   I've seen some backward motion in the starters, but the next man up has improved a lot.   Ah You has shown well.  Kavika has shown great if he is allowed to flow to the edge.  The edge defenders are the key on the stretch zone play.  IF, they hold the edge Kavika can get there to make the play.  IF they can't and get pushed back into Kavika's lap, he misses the play.  It is really a team game and they are getting better.
