It’s the normal practice, the precedent. Have you ever heard any NFL writer or
broadcaster refer to Taysom as a Stanford product rather than a BYU product? Or Joe Flacco as a Pitt Panther? Or Baker Mayfield as a Texas Tech Red Raider? There is a normal practice, and it doesn’t include referring to players as products of schools they transferred away from.
Having said this, it’s not that big a deal. If you want to count Max Hall as a Sun Devil, or Francis Bernard as a BYU Cougar when he gets to the NFL, be my guest.
