So it's not market driven.

I'm sure you could find other examples of businesses that are not market driven. Businesses that are kept running because the value to the owner has nothing to do with their ability to monetize the business. Maybe they are pet projects of wealthy folks who don't mind pouring money into them.

I'm still not sure how it hurts you or why you should care.
