because of the way they used their WRs against Utah. I have not reviewed film of either game so this is just my gut.
I think they may have preformed better with their 3rd string quarterback than they would have with 1st or 2nd. Why? He just put the ball out there and then let their NFL talent go after it. There were a bunch of dangerous passes but receivers made a play on the ball almost every time it was in their vicinity except the interception. With less talented receivers there are 3 or 4 interceptions in that game. The way it played out they almost made 3 or 4 big plays even with Utah defenders all over them. Those receivers are the whole package: speed, violence, hands, evasiveness, route running, awareness and they are master of protecting access to the ball with their body positioning.
I honestly think it could have been a different game against BYU if they had aired it out deep much more frequently and just trusted their guys to come down with the rock. Glad that was not their game plan.
