I've been critical of his less aggressive defense and thought they needed to put pressure on Clovis, but he clearly took the right approach of leaning on Tonga and the line to hold their own while dropping people into coverage and then having our versatile LB corp adjust to the run if needed. It generated interceptions and forced USC away from the pass, and the offense did enough to pull it out.
I'm not sure this approach would work without Tonga, but we have Tonga, so you might as well scheme around him. Here's to hoping they can figure out Washington today!
