It's called "The Honor Code", Bother...
Everyone thinks that getting into a P5 conference will solve all recruiting problems. News flash... It won't.

Sure, we'd get a few more elite LDS athletes like Simi Fehoku and others, but there's still a huge contingency of elite talent, and even LDS talent that don't want to come to BYU because of the honor code.

Frankly, I don't blame them. These elite guys have limited opportunities to show scouts what they have. Risk of missing a game/games to injury is bad enough. Add the risk of missing a game / games, or heaven forbid an entire season, because of an honor code violation is an added complication that many of these players don't want to deal with. That's just eligibility... In many cases, these guys "mess up", and do something that wouldn't even be considered a mistake at ANY OTHER UNIVERSITY, and not only will they lose playing time, they're standing with the university, and they're ability to complete a degree, is jeopardized.

The BYU honor code is the single biggest limiting factor to BYU. That's the case today, and that will continue to be the case even if we made it into a P5 conference.
