P5 is not a measure of how good your program is. It is solely about how good your conference is. Rutgers is a terrible football program, but its P5. Wake Forest is a terrible football program, but its P5.
We aren't in a conference, so we are not P5.
Saying we are P5 is like California saying they are a G7 country. It checks off all the boxes for being a G7 country--except for the most important one--IT IS NOT A COUNTRY. Us thinking we can play in the P5 sandbox is like Gavin Newsom thinking he can show up to the G7 Summit and act like he's an invitee.
This is what I hate about independence. Every freaking week is another existential test about our program's self worth. Not just the self worth of this year's team, but the self worth entire program relative all other programs. Its neurotic and so tiresome.
Rather than have these weekly self evaluations about where we stand in the NCAA landscape, we should just focus on beating our next opponent.
