I share the opinion of some other CB'ers that HC hiring is a crap shoot in the end. You can try to play the odds, but the house usually wins. Teams like USC, UCLA, Tennessee and others have tremendous talent, huge financial resources, and very demanding fanbases, but can't seem to hire good (enough) coaches.
I don't think BYU is any different. The dice favored them with Bronco and especially Lavell, but BYU crapped out with Crowton and KS (it seems). If this roll of the dice is bad, then it's probably time to roll again. Continuing to place bets on a losing roll after the fact seems irrational to me.
If BYU wins out or loses only to Boise, I think that represents solid evidence of improvement by KS as HC. Two close losses to Boise, and USU or SDSU could be argued to be evidence of improvement, but more losses just shows more of the same.
Probably time to roll just the dice again.
