I can see Nike giving star Oregon players contracts — partially to sell Nike products in the Western US but also to "pay" Oregon players legally; and that is just one example. As others have pointed out, there are a lot of Utah Businesses that would like to use star local players.
Or to put it another way — think of all the college coaches who have "deals" with local car companies to drive their cars. I think you see more of that with star players — and other businesses. I think it will further divide the "haves" from the "have nots" and will give a big advantage to schools in or near large urban areas.
