If I were commissioner of MLB, there is nothing that I would change to the current postseason format.
I think it is about as perfect as can be.

The 2nd wild card team has kept more fan bases interested and invested longer into the season. But I wouldn’t extend the Wild Card game into a best of 3. That pushes back the start of the DS too long, as well as starts to penalize the top seed in having to wait around. And any talk of a double header / home and home aggregate score idea, that’s just dumb. One is perfect. It rewards Division Winners, while keeping hope alive for additional teams to work their way through.

This year is a perfect example of how October should be. WC games started October 1st, and if the World Series goes 7, it would end October 30th. No need to push it into November, or start in September.
