Matt Richardson is awesome, but regardless of that, I’m not sure what you expect out of his role.

I want the HC to be more realistic and I want it easier for football players to get into school. I’m not really sure that’s something Matt Richardson could really do anything about. Maybe his equivalent at a different school, but there are layers of bureaucracy above him at BYU that would prevent that.

We’re also not getting into a P5 and we’re not getting subsidies from tithing money and none of those things have anything to do with Richardson either so if that’s what you’re after, you’re out of luck there too.

The best he can do is hire an AD who can run an athletic organization with forward thinking leadership. Look at how Dennis Lindsey leads the Jazz and find somebody like that. And if you don’t like the Jazz, then look at RC Bufford, Bob Myers, Boise State, Stanford, or any other successful individual or organization who uses analytics and strong culture to get an advantage over their competition.
