It' s a lot of things. Not just coaching. How many coaches have changed at BYU
over the years looking for better results on both sides of the ball? A ton. Our coaches aren't going to greener pastures they are getting fired and quitting football totally.

So...in reality changing coaches is what we have done over and over and it doesn't work. That's because it has to do with the type of athlete BYU can get. For example. Talon Shumway in high school was one of the most athletic and impressive athletes I have seen play. Goes on a mission and comes home and has been a former shell of himself. Makes a few great plays here and there, but nothing that makes you go Wow. Talon is a great man, person, and BYU ambassador, but unfortunately he hasn't been able to take football to the next level yet. He could break out and become amazing...but he is running out games left.

This is our whole roster of guys except for a few diamonds in the rough that are just complete studs. So..in order to be more competitive we need to adjust the type of athlete we go after. If all our players are returned missionaries, with spouses, and kids and football is their 3-4 priority then that's what our results will show and has shown. That's who we are and coaches can't resolve that.

You are getting incredible kids, and men that complete their degrees and are great ambassadors for the University and church and will be very successful in life. If all you want is a good football team then it's time to adjust the athletes you can get to turn to the corner and be more competitive. You just have to be willing to take all that goes with that. Not sure that's what BYU wants.
