Kalani left for a lateral (at best) move to OSU and Utah’s defense didn’t miss a beat, probably got better under Scalley. A-Rod was given every opportunity to succeed and obviously just wasn’t cut out for it. Troy Taylor was an upgrade and Coach Lud has been an even bigger upgrade (fingers crossed).

Now if someone comes and snatches Coach Scalley or Shaw or Harding or Powell, I would expect them to thrive. One of the most underrated factors in Utah’s recent success is the continuity of assistant coaches (outside of OC).
