I was officially a UW fan before I became a BYU fan, but there are a few other teams I've rooted for most of my life to which I have weak or no ties. Auburn, Clemson, Penn State, and Michigan are the ones that come to mind.

I had no idea why until it clicked for me over the last weekend. Around the time that I was beginning to watch CFB, I was a kid who was really into learning about big cats (especially tigers). I also thought wolverines were super cool because of a PBS nature documentary I'd seen. Those 4 teams were all on TV a lot back then, too. Yep, I totally developed lifetime (mild) fandoms based on mascots. Kids are weird. I wonder why I never developed any LSU fandom.
