Definitely areas where the lines are really thin. Personally, I wouldn’t call
The Cars a classic rock band, but I get it that some do. All that angular post punk stuff is just it’s own thing. It’s not cut from the Led Zeppelin cloth, so to speak.

Music genre lines can get way too strict. And I’m guilty of it. For me, classic rock has a certain sound. And post punk has a totally different sound. Hard to describe, I guess, but I know it when I hear it.

I do this with every genre. I’m a metal fan, for example, and you’ll never see “onion slicing” with genre like what metal fans do. “Sounds like a blackened crust, funeral doom hybrid, with elements of death core and djent.”
