I agree but I don't think the contractor was able to avoid paying taxes
The IRS probably hit the poor guy with a tax assessment based on estimated gross receipts without any deduction for labor, materials, insurance, etc.

So, the tax attorney probably helped to 1) prepare returns so that there was an accurate assessment of taxes owed, then 2) helped set up a payment plan for those taxes to get paid.

For his trouble the guy probably paid the attorney $10,000 of stupid tax to take care of a something that wouldn't have been a big deal if he'd just filed taxes in the first place!

Those commercials usually border on being outrageously misleading. Kind of like weight loss commercials.
