Kalani's BYU program is stuck in no man's land, unable to recruit the kind of talent even from 10 yrs ago--the talent gap between the P5 and G5 is unlike it's ever been. 10 yrs ago BYU consistently had 5-6 nfl level prospects on the roster.
LDS prospects with aspirations to play in the NFL want to play college football at the highest level, and until BYU is considered one of those programs (see Utah), at best, it will recruit average G5 talent. Kalani is leading a BYU program that is on the outside looking in--Lavell couldn't replicate his success in today's CFB landscape.
