So I finally just watched the game; I knew how it ends, and yet I sat here in the fourth quarter unbelievably frustrated and bothered at all the crappy play I saw. I am amazed at the number of missed tackles, really dumb untimely penalties, and some strange calls. There are some really bonehead plays. Like why did Eskupa go and push on the back of a lineman on 3rd and 1 instead of pushing on the back of Romney?? I was amazed at how many linebackers ran right past the runner when they could’ve nailed him for a loss or short gain. Putting the Tonga/kafenzis package in when we were at the six yard line or even going for it on fourth and one at the end of the game obviously worked in our favor, but holy crap that did not make sense, given the risk. I am so happy for the win and I have really wanted this coaching staff to succeed because of the kind of guys that they are, but I have got to be honest I am really not optimistic about how good this team can be now or in the future, given the lack of execution, discipline and just lack of skill in some position groups of this team. Yes we beat a “14 ranked team”, but I think more than anything we exposed Boise State for who they really are – they were not impressive - Not even close to as good as Washington, Utah, or USC. So as much as I want to celebrate and as happy as I am for the win, it also left me a little bit depressed.
