Its not funny because of the intelligence level of the joke. Its funny because of the reaction from their fan base, particularly from some individuals. Their over-reaction is often way to livid. Reminds me of a friend of mine sophomore year of high school who overreacted every time we teased him about liking some girl. Because his reactions were so humorous we brought it up incessantly until he stopped caring.
