I like to ride and run triathlons, and now my wife has expressed some interest in getting a bike to ride with me. And even mentioned she would enjoy doing a sprint tri some time. She has gotten more into endurance sports and recently ran her first half and so I have reason to believe she would really enjoy riding with me and maybe doing a couple of tris with me.

What should I be looking at as far as bikes for her? I bought a road bike a couple of years ago for my racing and spent more than I care to admit. She obviously doesn't need anything like that but I want to get her a solid bike in the low to middle market. I was thinking about getting her a hybrid bike, but I am not sure how much she would use it on anything other than a paved path, maybe use it on a gravel path but not frequently.

Any suggestions would be great.
