Washington lost to SC and didn't play UCLA, so their remaining PAC10 schedule...
...was comparatively soft. Not hugely more difficult than BYU's WAC schedule, especially if you exclude USC, which the Huskies couldn't beat.
Both teams played fairly soft OOC schedules as well. About the same.
It was a down year in college football. BYU was the best (eligible) team of a bad bunch, but they were the best.
