I got home from my mission right as smartphones and personal technology were starting to become common. I see my wife's younger siblings traversing high school and I have no idea how they do it. It looks miserable and difficult. My high school and college experience felt very connected to social events and I felt like there was a lot of freedom and interaction. Everything kids have to deal with now seems restrictive and anti social. Its horrible and I dont think its laziness. I think technology moved the goalposts without anyone realizing it until it was too late.
