And Romney makes it look simple...
...for example, multiple times in the games he’s played in Opposing teams have tried to blitz him and he quickly picks it up prior to the snap and as the guy rushes in from the edge, Baylor calmly flips the ball to the RB who slips out into the area just vacated by the pass rusher. In one drive (It was the USU game on our first TD drive iirc) We were in the red zone but took a holding penalty to go to 2nd and 20, USU brought an extra rusher on the edge and Baylor saw it and passed to Katoa for a nice 7 yd gain, making it 3rd and 12. The next pass went to Shumway for 13 yds and we had first down inside the 5 and scored a couple plays later. He made it all look ho-hum.

How many times do we watch ZW in a similar situation try to out run the blitz and eventually roll out to the sideline, run out of real estate and then run out of bounds taking a big loss (rather than throw it away) or get twisted up trying to evade the rush and take an ugly sack?

When protection breaks down in the pocket or the pocket starts to collapse, Baylor has the best feel for moving just enough to give him time to get rid of the ball. Very much like John Beck. ZW tries too hard to turn every tight spot into a Manziel moment rather than take the easy play. Even today against a crappy team he was running out of the pocket and then out of bounds losing big yards and killing drives rather than making an easy play or throwing it away to avoid the loss. he’s a 2nd yr starter and should be smarter than he is in those situations. Coaches need to get on him to realize that we don’t need Johnny Manziel, just someone who will make the easy read and play
