unless I were to live out it the sticks/like a cowboy. I grew up with cattle dogs and love seeing them work, but I'm disgusted by what I see as an accessory pet culture. Money/time/hassle all poured in to an animal that's not your kid and does nothing for you.

My wife and I have been at odds about this - she's been saying for years she wanted a dog. Luckily this has cured her. After the hassle, time and dog diarrhea she's done and never wants a dog.
