Fortunately I lived in Utah during that time and was able to change providers (twice) to get and maintain access to BYU football. I certainly feel for the those that weren't able to get access and recognize that the BYU administration and many fans are still upset about this.
To me, having multiple games available only through streaming options is a move back in that direction. I recognize that it isn't nearly as bad as the mtn as fans can at least pay for an option to watch the games somehow but it is nowhere near the convenience of turning on my TV and going to one of my favorite sports channels.
Since I returned from my mission in 2000, I can only recall 4 football games that weren't available on my TV through my cable/satellite provider ('14 Cal, '12 NMSU, '19 Toledo, and '19 UMass). I'm not a fan of two of these four games happening in the last two months and don't see it as a great sign for the future.
As a fan growing up in Utah I don't recall missing very many games (road or home) as a kid either as KSL would usually broadcast the games (probably the same broadcast that was sent to Stake Centers).
