I worked with a guy who played cornerback in the NFL after breaking his hip in college. He lasted 2-3 years in the NFL if I remember correctly. He said his hip was never the same and walked with a limp (still in his 20s) when I knew him. That was 20+ years ago. I am sure orthopedic surgery on the pelvic region is better now and Tagovailoa has top surgeons on his case, but he has a very tough road back.
