If you just ignore the data and come up with subjective criteria, you don’t get
more accurate results.
Too many are placing a 3-win Michigan st team higher than a ranked USU or Boise st. It’s just not true. Don’t forget in the old MW we’d play P5s in the non-conf and TCU and Utah both had top 5 finishes some years.
For example in 2017, we played 6 MW teams, 2 bottom 10 teams (UMass and ECU), a winless FCS team, a .500 Utah team, and a below .500 USU team, and we lost 9 games and had our worst season ever. But because we couldn’t cross the 50 vs. a top 25 LSU people think our schedule was just “too tough”.
