But really it all just piled up: the rapes, the losing seasons, and the falling attendance (plus the general feeling that he couldn't get the offense to remain functional more than 3-4 games into the season).
It's possible that without the rapes, he would have had a bit longer leash for the losses. Obviously, I don't know if that is true or not, but I kind of doubt it. I think the AD losing money was enough to get him fired even if he hadn't had such awful off-field issues earlier in his tenure.
