My feeling is that they never intended to put themselves in such an awkward
travel position in the first place, but used it as leverage to get what they wanted from the MWC.
Do you think the MWC would have actually allowed them to go football only and keep all other sports in the MWC? Because that would be the only way joining a conference, with a number of teams on the other side of the country, would not be a huge detriment to the entire athletic programs.
