Depends on which perspective you choose to have on it
1. Is it sad that BYU was an underdog going into the game? Probably.
2. Was it sad that BYU lost on the road to a team who computer models favored and Vegas had as a modest underdog? Yes, but probably not to the degree of the wailing and gnashing which ensued; acting as if BYU lost to UMass or East Carolina in 2017.
