One of the local media guys had a basketball tourney seeding guy on the radio before the season. That expert indicated that the tournament committee will take the loss of their star player into account when evaluating how BYU did before Yoeli vs. after. If BYU plays much better with their star player, and holds serve while he is out, this Boise loss will not look terrible. It’s a road loss in overtime, as well. Not like we got destroyed by a bad team at home.

It’s not like they’re a sub-200 team like games we seem to lose every year. They are a middle-of-the-conference mediocre squad, but it’s not a terrible loss on the road in November without Yoeli. Don’t think we should sweat this one as much as we are. We have no real option to score when we aren’t hitting 3’s. This was a cold shooting game. We still competed and took it to overtime.

In my estimation, we just needed to win one of the games we weren’t favored in to prove that we could win without Yoeli, and to beat the teams we obviously should beat. That would get us to 5-4 in the first 9 games, and that’s more than passable given the situation. It’s a loss. But it’s not a bad one.
