He was an Elite 11 QB who was thrown into a starting job due to injury just a couple months back from a mission, and he ended up throwing for close to 3,500 yards and winning some national freshman of the year awards. Yeah, he made some freshman mistakes, but overall he was very effective in 2015. How much of his slide after that was due to physical vs. mental vs. scheme/coaching issues I can't say, but this idea that he was never all that good to begin with just doesn't jive with reality.
