If we're going to be 7-5, I actually prefer the way we did it. If we were 7-5
with losses to all of the difficult teams, and only beat the mediocre to poor G5 teams, that tells you that we have an obvious ceiling, an obvious talent gap, and can't compete with P5's. The fact that Kalani has beaten Wiscy, Mich St, AZx2, Tennessee (all on the road), plus USC, Mississippi St, Boise, etc. tells me that we have the talent to compete. We're not getting blown off the field by the Utes. The games virtually always have come down to 1 play (and a pick usually 6 being the difference). That tells me we're close and we can be a great program again if we can just develop some consistency, get a few bounces to go our way, and avoid the ridiculous injury bug we've had recently.

Whittingham was somewhat similar to Kalani early in his career. Lost to every single MWC program, finished 3rd of worse in something like 4/6 seasons in the MWC, and in his 8 years or so in the PAC12, has a just over .500 record in conference. But he's improved and learned over the years. I think Kalani will do the same. If we can have a great year or two, recruiting will improve, and we could see the snowball effect the utes have experienced.
